ArcBox Installation

ArcBox Installation - Solar Fire Safety in Seconds

ArcBox installation couldn’t be more simple; it takes just a few seconds to install per solar DC connector. So, even if you’re installing ArcBox on every DC connector to take advantage of maximum fire risk reduction, the additional installation time is negligible while the safety advantages of using ArcBox are significant.

Simple Installation

With quick and easy installation and multiple mounting options for different roof types, the ArcBox enclosure can be used in most solar PV installations to deliver effective solar fire risk mitigation.

1 Join the DC connector following the manufacturer’s instructions. Observe local regulations on mixing connectors.

ArcBox installation illustration step 2 place the connector inside the ArcBox

2 Place the DC connector inside ArcBox with the cables in the split grommet where they will be held securely.

ArcBox installation illustration step 3 close the enclosure

3 Close ArcBox and ensure the catch has clicked into place so the enclosure is closed around the DC connectors.

4 Mount ArcBox on a suitable hanging point. Do not suspend on the cable or install where water might collect.

Approaches to ArcBox Installation

ArcBox installation on every solar DC connector
Every DC connector covered for maximum risk reduction
ArcBox installation on higher-risk connectors only
Higher-risk connectors only for a balanced risk reduction

ArcBox can be applied to every single DC connection or only the higher risk (installer-assembled) connections added to extension cables. A fire risk assessment can also guide this decision and will consider factors such as the use of the building if the solar is building mounted, and the combustibility of nearby materials, for example roof coverings, materials used in the solar mounting system and vegetation.
